The top surface of the lamp is divided into two concentric bands containing Greek inscriptions.

Comments:
Although the inscriptions here are largely illegible the few letters discernable indicate that they probably followed the standard formula on similar lamps. The outer circle would contain the phrase "The blessing of the Mother of God be with us" and the inner circle the phrase "Inscription of John".
