Origin: Probably Rhodes / Asia Minor

Date: 425 – 350 BC

Description:


Fabric: Pinkish-buff clay with dark brown slip all over, inside and out.

Manufacture: Wheel made.

Condition: Repaired crack across body, chip to r. rim, slip worn on exterior.

Notes:
Cf. Allard Pierson, APM00867; Kassab Tezgör & Sezer, 143-4 (both found at Lindos); (fabric) BMC I, Q378 (found at Rhodes); (form) Harvard, 1960.559.
The Harvard lamp (with narrow rimmed shoulder and long nozzle) was excavated at Olynthus in a context predating the destruction of 348 BC.
