Comments:
This example of a common regional type was found at Tel Maresha in Judaea, a settlement known as Marissa and inhabited by Idumeans, Sidonians and Greeks in the Hellenistic period. The settlement was conquered by John Hyrcanus I in c.113 BC and finally destroyed by the Parthians in 40 BC.
Probably from domestic debris discarded in basement caves during the conquest of the 2nd century BC.
