Origin: Eastern Mediterranean, possibly Egypt

Date: 200 50 BC

Description:

Body formed as grotesque head (probably Silenos) with wide nose, close-set eyes, puffed cheeks and protruding ears. The filling hole on top with rim and handle-roll bordered by high ridges (horns?), flanked by a series of raised dots representing curled hair (or grapes?). The long nozzle with flat top. Plain flat base.

Fabric: Pink clay with traces of dark brown slip.

Manufacture: Mould made.
