Origin: Eastern Mediterranean, possibly Egypt

Date: 450 – 650 AD

Description:
Cruciform handle-ornament. Hinged lid formed as scallop shell. Base with square socket and internal sleeve for pricket.


Fabric: Copper alloy.

Manufacture: Cast.

Size (cm): L. 13.6, W. 5.5, H. 8.3 (ih)

Condition: Small hole (probably casting fault repair) under nozzle.
