Comments:
This example of a common regional type was found at Tel Maresha in Judaea, a settlement known as Marissa and inhabited by Idumeans, Sidonians and Greeks in the Hellenistic period. The settlement was conquered by John Hyrcanus I in c.113 BC and finally destroyed by the Parthians in 40 BC.
Probably from the necropolis or from domestic debris discarded in basement caves during the conquest of the 2nd century BC.
