Description:
'Bird head' lamp (Vogelkopflampe). Transverse handle.

Base marked BASSA
Bassus, a recorded maker in central Italy.

Manufacture: Mould made.

Condition: Hole in base, mould join cracked at nozzle.

Dressel Type 22.

Associated with a Warzenlampe bearing label: 'regalo di / Adele Martinelli 1893 / lucerna antica'.


Comments:
The generic term 'bird head' applied to this type of lamp refers to a common decoration on earlier examples, not to the shape.
