G1

Reference: G1 / Cat. No. K2.5127

Period: Greek

Origin: Western Asia Minor

Date: 600 – 525 BC

Description:
Open bowl with sides slightly tapered inwards towards top, interior with central raised cone (mesomphalos), with short nozzle and narrow bridge.

Fabric: Orange clay.

Manufacture: Wheel made.

Notes:
Cf. Kassab Tezgör & Sezer, 81-3, 85-90; Szentléleky, 15-17; Petrie Museum, UC50699.
The type was imitated in Sicily (Kassab Tezgör & Sezer, p.56) but the fabric here suggests manufacture in Asia Minor.
